The development of modern technologies in agriculture puts more and more emphasis on threshing efficiency and quality. One of the key elements influencing these parameters is a properly selected concave. A few years ago we came across round bar concaves fi16 with a 16 mm bars gaps which were originally used in rotor combines dedicated for corn threshing.

From Testing to Proven Solutions
Inspired by the solutions used in rotor machines, we decided to test this system in drum combines. We produced the first test models for the CLAAS Tucano 320 and New Holland TC 5060. Initially the concaves were half round bar and half classic. However, the results were so satisfactory that in the same year, for the same customer, we produced fully round bar concaves.

Later, we tested the advantages of this solution in other machines such as: New Holland CX 8060, John Deere 1450, New Holland CX 5080 and CLAAS Lexion 440. It turned out that regardless of the combine brand and model, using a Round Bar Concave was a success in threshing rape, soybeans and especially CORN. It also proved effective in harvesting sunflower and peas.
In the following years we expanded the production of Round Bar Concaves to most brands and models of combines – both rotor and drum types. Currently approximately 95% of corn concaves we sell are Round Bar Concaves. They have gained particular popularity in CLAAS, CASE, New Holland, and Fendt combines. Many farmers order a complete corn conversion kit from us even for brand-new machines.

Advantages of the fi16 Round Bar Concave with 16 mm bars gaps
Increased Harvest Efficiency
The round bars improve the flow and processing of plant material, making the threshing process more efficient.
Reduced Grain Damage
The concaves are made of fi16 steel bars. By using rounded edges, the number of damaged seeds is significantly lower – especially in soybeans and corn. With dry material, there are fewer cracked or broken grains; with wet material the seeds are not crushed into “dough” but retain their natural structure.
Resistance to Clogging
The construction, without perpendicular flat bars on the working surface, allows for a smooth mass flow. Even with high grain moisture, the concave does not clog, which greatly increases harvesting efficiency.
Better Performance with large plant mass
Round Bar Concaves perform exceptionally well under demanding conditions when threshing large volumes of crop, resulting in the already mentioned higher harvesting efficiency.
Summary
Round Bar Concaves are a solution that meets the needs of modern agriculture. Increased harvesting efficiency, reduced grain damage, resistance to clogging and effective threshing with large grain mass make them an increasingly popular choice among farmers – especially those cultivating corn for grain.
